Moonlight goes through the motions of childhood, adolescence and adulthood of a young black man in the ghetto. The director Barry Jenkins captures the empathy of the main character "Kevin" throughout the film and gives the audience the different dimensions Kevin, as he tries to understand and identify who he really is in each 3 main stages of his life. Mahershala Ali who plays the father figure role of "Juan" is compassionate to the relationship he builds with Kevin and to a degree towards Kevin's Mum, played by Naomie Harris. Some might say this is their best story of the year but i thought it was an interesting direction captured by the director and is current in this day and age of Society.
