A love story from the past that has a hand on the present future love of Mae Morton. Director Stella Meghie tells the story of “Christina Eames” Mae’s mother played by Chelsea Peretti, on how she had to hustle to make it as a successful photographer while trying to raise Mae.
Christina’s love takes a turn as she’s forced to move for better job prospects or stay rooted to her boyfriend “Isaac” played by Y’lan Noel. Unexpected death of Christina has the grown up Mae looking for answers to her incomplete life and upbringing.
We also see two rising stars Issa Rae who plays the talented “Mae” and Lakeith Stanfield playing “Michael Block” who takes a shine to Mae, as they light up the big screen.
Overall a good cast of actors but felt slightly incomplete by the end of it.
